چکیده
R. Kruzel, M. Suliga, Czestochowa University of Technology, Czestochowa, Poland Steel tire cord, springs and rope wires belong to the group of metal products from which the low residual stresses are required. In this paper the eff ect of multiple bending of wire on residual stresses of high carbon steel wires has been assessed. It was found that the application of the multi-roller straightening machine in the banding wire process enables to reduce the residual stresses in the drawn wires. It should be also noted that the value of the residual stresses depends on the type of straightener construction. The residual stresses on the basis of stress-strain curve has been determined. It has been stated that the application of seven-rolls straightener gives the best eff ect of straightening.

Static Strain Aging Behavior of Low Carbon Steel Drawn Wire
The static strain aging is a phenomenon that can change the mechanical properties of low carbon steels. Thus, the static strain aging behavior of low carbon steel wires after drawing process is studied. To do so, the wires are austenitized at different temperatures and cooled in different rates. Then the wires are drawn and aged at a specific temperature and time. Before and after aging of each...
متن کاملInfluence of Residual Stress Field on the Fatigue Crack Propagation in Prestressing Steel Wires
This paper deals with the effect of several residual stress profiles on the fatigue crack propagation in prestressing steel wires subjected to tension loading or bending moment. To this end, a computer program was developed to evaluate the crack front evolution on the basis of the Walker law. Results demonstrate that the absence of residual stresses makes the crack propagate towards a preferent...
متن کاملDeveloping Very Fine Nanopearlitic Structure in a High Carbon Steel Wire before Drawing
The effects of steel wire patenting process parameters on very fine interlamellar spacing in the pearlitic steel wire were investigated and the optimized condition of the process was achieved. In this work, the initial nanopearlitic structure was obtained in a 0.72 wt% carbon steel wire before the wire drawing process. The results were the minimum interlamellar spacing of 35 nm and maximum ulti...
متن کاملFem Analysis of Effect of Die Angle on Strain and Stress State in Process of Drawing of Steel for Prestressed Concrete
A die angle is one of the most important parameters for a drawing process. It should be chosen in that way that a draw stress is low, a wire surface quality is satisfactory and die durability is high [1]. The temperature of a wire in deformation zone depends on amounts of heat generated during a drawing. This heat consists of two components; one is the work piece deformation and another is fric...
متن کاملInfluence of Residual Stress on Fatigue Life of Hot Forged and Shot Blasted Steel Components
Hot forging is a common manufacturing process for the production of large quantities of engineering components. Residual stresses are developed in forged components as a result of various aspects of the manufacturing process, including subsequent cooling, and heat treatment. Residual stresses can significantly affect the deformation and fatigue failure of materials. Hot forged EN15R steel bars ...
